The Disappearance of Allison Jackson-Foy

I listen to a lot of other true crime podcasts, and today I put on Nancy Grace’s Crime Online podcast. It was an episode that really caught my attention, and there just so happened to be an episode of Disappeared on it. It’s season 5 episode 6, titled ‘Last Call.’

This case is about a mother of two kids who disappeared after celebrating her new job by celebrating with friends. Her determined family was and still is determined to find out what happened to their loved one.

Background

Allison

Allison

Allison Jackson-Foy was a 34 year old mother, who had two daughters named Jordan and Courtney. Allison was originally from Long Island, New York, but at the time of her disappearance she was living in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Allison was struggling before her disappearance. Her sister, Lisa, said Allison would confide in her about her crumbling marriage, her money problems and losing her oldest daughter in a custody battle. Lisa said Allison was still very determined to be a good mom and to get a job.

Lisa did get a new job as an assistant manager at a Holiday Inn in Wilmington. She was so excited that on the night of her disappearance she went out to celebrate at a local bar. She had only been working at the Holiday Inn for four days.

Disappearance

On July 30, 2006, Allison went to a pub called Junction Pub and Billiards, with a friend named Chris Williams. They celebrated for awhile and Allison wanted to get a cab because she had been drinking that night.

The cab driver came in a few minutes later and asked if someone was looking for a ride, and Allison left after saying goodbye to Chris. This was the last time she was seen.

The Phone Call

On August 1, 2006, Allison’s dad, John, got a phone call that would change his life forever. He got a call from a police detective and they said Allison was missing. Allison’s husband, Mike, was the one who reported her missing. John had to call the rest of his children and let them know.

Lisa Valentino, Allison’s sister, was interviewed in this episode and she said she was so surprised by the call. She was on vacation with her kids, and left early to go home to see her dad and siblings. Allison’s family was pretty upset with Mike that he didn’t call them himself, to let them know.

John was interviewed in this episode as well, and he said that he didn’t have a good relationship with Mike, but that he should have still called them.

The Investigation

This is one part of many of the Disappeared episode that I didn't like. The police started their investigation by looking into Allison’s personal life. They found out that Allison had been struggling, especially with money. There were reports that Allison had stolen money from her past employers, which in no means defines her. The police kept making statements that Allison probably just left on her own because she had allegedly stolen money. UGH THIS PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH.

The police then interviewed Mike, the bar managers and patrons, but ruled everyone out. Mike was very suspicious because he turned off Allison’s phone service and didn't help with the searches for Allison, but the police somehow came to the conclusion that Mike didn’t hurt Allison.

A New Suspect

Allison’s family hired a private investigator named Marc Benson. Marc was also a host of a radio show, who used his platform to get Allison’s story out into the world.

On September 9, 2007, Marc received an email from a woman named Susan Iannone. In the email, Susan asked why her husband Tim was a suspect. Marc was taken aback and confused, because they didn't have any suspects at that time.

Tim Iannone was a cab driver. He was arrested on August 27, 2007, for another crime. He was accused of first degree rape and kidnapping of a local sex worker named Sonia Williams. This brings us to another part of the episode I didn’t like, the episode said Sonia was just a sex worker who was on drugs. YES, MAYBE SHE WAS STRUGGLING BUT SHE’S STILL A PERSON.

Tim Iannone

Tim Iannone was sentenced to probation for this heinous crime, after Sonia didn’t show up for her court date to testify against him. I can imagine she was probably scared to either face this piece of shit or of being ridiculed because she was a sex worker and did struggle with drugs.

The police also obtain records for Tim’s work time card and his phone records. Tim had clocked out at around 12am on the night Allison disappeared, but it was determined that he worked 24 hours. Tim would give his personal phone number out to bars and restaurants and get his customers that way. The police didn't find any calls on Tim’s phone from the Junction Pub or any other bar that night.

Tim was questioned, but he had to be let go because there was no evidence against him.

Allison is Found

On April 26, 2008, two years after Allison went missing. A detective named Lee Odham got a call from other detectives that they found two sets of remains.

A pedestrian had found two shallow graves on a road called Carolina Beach Road. The police weren’t expecting to find two sets of remains, but they were pretty sure one of them was going to be Allison.

Allison had been wearing a pinkish-red sweater the night she went missing, and one of the remains had what was left of a pink-red sweater on it. They also found jewelry near the graves, which Allison’s family confirmed it was hers. Lisa said on the podcast that she had seen Allison wearing it when she went to visit her.

In September 2008, the remains were confirmed to being Allison’s. When Allison’s remains were looked at, it was determined that she had been stabbed 40 times and thrown into the shallow grave.

The other remains were identified as belonging to Angela Nobles-Rothen. Angela was a local sex worker, and the police didn’t believe the victim’s knew each other.

An Eerie Twist

After Allison’s remains were identified, Lisa and a family friend went to visit Allison’s final resting place. While they were there, they found extra bones on the ground. They call 911, and the police were confused. They thought they had collected everything that was in or near the graves.

The bones were identified as belonging to Allison. Honestly, when I heard that I got chills. On the podcast, Lisa said that she thinks the person who killed her sister knew she was coming and put them there.

No one has ever been charged in Allison’s murder. No one has been charged with the murder of Angela Nobles-Rothen’s murder either.

Other

In December 2008, Tim and Susan Iannone went on Dateline. They were interviewed by Josh Mankiewicz, and he asked Tim if he killed Allison. Tim said no, that whoever did it was a sick person to do that. Josh also asked Tim what he thinks should happen to the person who is responsible, and Tim said they should be executed.

This creeped me out because he had dead eyes and showed no emotion.

Allison’s family is now working to find new ways to find out who killer her. The Wilmington PD received a MVAC, a wet vacuum for DNA collection. They are hoping that this will help improve the police department and get answers for them and other families.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I 100% believe the killer is Tim Iannone, and I honestly think his wife helped him. It’s just weird that she sent that email to the private investigator when Tim was not even considered a suspect. I think Tim’s a monster. I think he killed Allison and Angela and would’ve killed Sonia, but she’s a brave person for getting away from him.

I really hope that Allison’s family get justice for their daughter, sister and mom. I hope one day Tim, if Tim is the killer goes to prison for the rest of his life.

ALSO, DO NOT VICTIM BLAME!!!!! It pissed me off to no end that the police said Allison probably ran away, well guess you were wrong about that one!!!! Sonia was a person too, don’t just disregard her because of her lifestyle, you never know what a person has truly been through.
