The Murder of Jennifer Snyder

For this case, I watched an episode of Primal Instinct. It’s season 2 episode 4, titled ‘The Appointment.’

The body of a young veterinary technician is found.

Background

Jennifer Snyder was only 27 years old at the time of her death. She worked at the Maple Hills Veterinary Clinic, as a veterinary technician in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Jennifer had a passion for helping animals since a very early age.

Jennifer Snyder

A Secret Relationship

At the clinic, Jennifer worked closely with David Rapoport, who overlooked the clinic.

David was described as not very outgoing, quiet, and mysterious. The clients at the clinic liked him, and he got along well with people. Jennifer had been seeing David for a few months. Her family described her as happy, but Jennifer eventually told them that David was married. David had been telling Jennifer that he was going to leave his wife.

Jennifer’s mom, Pat, and sister, Justine, said that they would have never been okay with Jennifer seeing a married man, had he not said that he was going to be leaving his wife.

Jennifer seemed to believe everything that David was telling her. Jennifer wanted a serious relationship. She wanted to have kids and a home with David.

Jennifer, and a more recent mugshot of David.

The Confrontation

David even attended a family event with Jennifer. Jennifer introduced him to her family, but David revealed that he couldn’t leave his wife because she had mental issues. Jennifer was distraught.

A few months after the family event, David told Jennifer that he had met with a lawyer, and was finally going to leave his wife.

Jennifer was so happy, that she shared the news of her relationship on social media. David’s wife discovered the affair in 2009, and confronted Jennifer one night while she was on a date with David. The police were called, and David’s wife pled guilty to harassment, and was ordered to pay a fine.

David somehow convinced his wife that his relationship with Jennifer was over. David left the clinic, and started working at a new one. Jennifer was distraught, and found out she was pregnant not to long after her relationship with David ended.

The Discovery

After Jennifer found out she was pregnant, she called David to tell him. David’s reaction to the news was described as scary. He was obviously upset, but a few weeks later, he called Jennifer, and asked if he could go to the ultrasound scheduled for March 17, 2011, with her. Of course, Jennifer said yes.

On March 16, David and Jennifer went out for lunch. David told Jennifer that he had a surprise for her. Jennifer was so excited.

Jennifer never showed up for her ultrasound. Her sister, Justine, tried to send her a few messages, and called her, but the phone went to voicemail.

The next day, the police received a call from employees at a dentist office. They had said that there was an abandoned vehicle in the rear of the parking lot. They had looked through the window, and found broken glass, blood, and .9mm shell casings. The car belonged to Jennifer.

A Premeditated Murder

The police were able to find out from her roommate, a woman named Hillary, who the last person to see Jennifer was.

The police went to David’s house to speak with him. David was very evasive with his answers. The police asked David’s wife if she wanted to let them speak alone, but she stayed near David.

The police asked David if they could search his car. Inside, the police found blood on a roll of duct tape.

The Pennsylvania state police used a helicopter to help in their search. On March 18, Jennifer’s body was found. Jennifer’s body was wrapped in black garbage bags, with duct tape wrapped around the bags. There was also a strong odor of bleach, and more .9mm shell casings were found.

Jennifer had been shot three times in total. Twice in the mouth, and once in the back. The shell casings were tested against the gun in David’s possession. The results were that the casings had likely come from his gun.

The police were also able to find surveillance footage of David. On March 16, David was seen parking Jennifer’s car around 1pm, and discarding items in a dumpster. The items recovered were a bleach soaked towel, an empty bottle of bleach, and Jennifer’s OBGYN paperwork.

The Conviction

The police knew that David had planned to kill Jennifer. He had purchased the items used to kill and wrap her body.

To avoid the death penalty, David pled guilty in December 2011, to two counts of first degree murder. He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison.

David’s wife, Elizabeth, divorced him, and moved out of state.

David Rapoport

Other

In December 2012, David’s request to appeal his conviction was denied. He claimed he was not given a verbal waiver. However, he was given a waiver, and completed a written form waiving his rights.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This dude is a piece of shit, and just looks evil. David lied over and over, to both Jennifer, and his wife. His wife shouldn’t have attacked Jennifer, but she clearly was devastated by what her husband was doing. Now, David will rot in prison forever, and will never be able to hurt anyone else.
